The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet in Islamabad on Tuesday to observe the Zilhajj moon for the Islamic year 1446 Hijri. The session will be chaired by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad.

In addition to the central meeting, the Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will hold separate sessions at their respective regional offices to confirm the moon sighting, which will determine the date of Eidul Adha.

Eidul Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the two major Islamic festivals. It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.

The festival falls on the 10th day of Zilhajj, the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar. This year, Eidul Adha is expected to be observed on Saturday, July 7, subject to the moon sighting.

Every year, millions of Muslims from around the world gather in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform the Hajj pilgrimage, a key religious obligation that coincides with Zilhajj.

During Eidul Adha, Muslims traditionally slaughter animals such as goats, cows, or camels. The meat is then distributed among family, friends, and those in need. This act of sacrifice continues for three days and honors the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith.
