Aligarh Institute of Technology (AIT), Karachi, has launched a four-month Beautician Course aimed at equipping young people with practical professional skills and creating opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship.

Renowned beautician and vocational trainer Mrs Tasneem Imran has taken charge as Head of the Beautician Department. She brings nearly 25 years of professional experience in beautician training and vocational skills development.

Mrs Tasneem Imran has worked in Karachi and other parts of the country and has also been associated with NAVTTC as an expert since 2018. She previously served as Head of the Beautician Department at a technical institute in Karachi for nearly 14 years, where the department achieved significant growth and students secured positions at zonal, provincial and national levels for three consecutive years.

She recently returned to Karachi after completing a one-year training programme in Balochistan under the Education Foundation, where she trained both male and female students.

The new four-month programme at Aligarh Institute will cover a broad range of practical skills, beginning with basic techniques such as threading and extending to advanced services including bridal makeup.

An important feature of the programme is that male students will also be allowed to receive beautician training, providing them with an opportunity to develop professional skills, seek employment or establish their own businesses.

The institute also plans to provide students with three months of practical work experience through internships after completion of the training. The internship component is intended to help students gain workplace confidence and understand professional requirements before entering the job market.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Aligarh Institute of Technology Shahid Jamil said the institution aims to equip the daughters and women of Karachi with practical skills that can help them secure employment, achieve financial independence and build better futures.

Convener Syed Muhammad Mohsin Kazim said the institute’s priority is to provide quality education and practical training in different fields. He stressed that students should not merely receive certificates but should also acquire the practical abilities and confidence required to succeed professionally.

The launch of the Beautician Department represents an effort to expand vocational education, employment opportunities and entrepreneurship by giving students market-oriented skills that can potentially help them establish careers or their own businesses.
