FIFA and the Saudi Esports Federation have postponed the FIFAe Finals 2026, which were scheduled to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from October 16 to 25.
The decision follows a review of the regional security situation and its impact on the arrangements needed to host the international esports tournament.
The postponement comes after a deadly attack on Riyadh’s international airport on October 10, which reportedly killed at least 12 people and injured more than 300. Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed responsibility for the attack, according to media reports.
Japan and Brazil had also withdrawn their esports teams over security concerns.
Organisers said further details about the tournament would be announced later. No new dates have been confirmed so far.
The situation has also affected other sporting events in Saudi Arabia, including the Six Kings Slam tennis exhibition, which has been moved to December.
