LAHORE: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has claimed that the head of a political party is deeply upset over being denied the governorship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a role in the province’s governor’s rule setup.
Speaking informally to journalists in Lahore on Friday, Naqvi did not identify the political leader but alleged that the politician had relied on the establishment’s support for decades, even claiming that it had arranged air tickets for the party.
Naqvi said such politicians should not criticise others without considering their own past, adding that political differences should be expressed through arguments and facts rather than inappropriate language and accusations.
The interior minister also questioned why certain political leaders had remained silent over the resource allocation issues affecting the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). He stressed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa needed peace, stability and collective efforts to address its security challenges.
