Imran Khan’s Sister Warns of “Darkest Era,” Cites Fears Over His Safety

In a strong rebuke of Pakistan’s current political climate, Noreen Niazi sister of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan issued a stark warning, claiming the country under Army Chief Asim Munir is “worse than Hitler’s regime.” Speaking to India Today TV, she said the family has had no contact with Imran Khan for more than three weeks, raising deep concerns about his safety.

Noreen warned that if anything happens to Imran Khan, “Asim Munir’s descendants will never be safe in Pakistan.” She alleged that Khan has been denied basic human rights inside Adiala Jail and insisted that “one word” from the PTI founder could mobilize workers to “break jail gates and rescue him.”

Calling the current situation “the darkest era in Pakistan’s history,” she accused authorities of suppressing political rights, weakening courts, and allowing police to use excessive force, even against women and children. She said the family has repeatedly been denied access to Imran Khan, and officials have provided no update on his condition.

Rumours about Khan’s health and claims of restricted communication have heightened anxiety among supporters. Noreen said the family learned through media reports not the authorities that unverified claims about Imran Khan’s death were circulating.

Earlier, Imran Khan’s younger son Kasim also expressed alarm, stating the family had “no proof of life” and would hold authorities responsible if anything happened to the former premier.

During this ongoing uncertainty, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, accompanied by PTI lawmakers, visited Adiala Jail seeking information about Khan’s health but was not permitted to meet him. Imran’s sister Aleema Khan was also barred from access.

Jail officials, however, dismissed rumours of Khan’s death and insisted he is in good health though family members continue to demand direct access and verification.
