The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Department has increased its daily wheat release quota to 4,000 metric tonnes to improve supplies to flour mills across the province.
According to reports published on October 19, 2026, the decision follows a Peshawar High Court ruling and directives from the Cabinet Oversight Committee.
An additional 1,000 metric tonnes of wheat will be supplied from National Reserve Centre warehouses in Azakhel.
The increased supply is aimed at meeting demand, supporting flour production, and improving the availability of this essential food item.
The move is expected to help flour mills maintain production, while authorities continue monitoring wheat distribution and flour supplies across the province.
The key question now is whether the increased wheat supply will help stabilise flour prices and provide relief to consumers.
