Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched investigations into alleged irregularities in the country’s power sector, according to a statement by NAB Chairman Lieutenant General (retired) Nazir Ahmed.
Speaking to journalists on October 19, the NAB chairman said the bureau had initiated multiple cases at the federal level.
He added that action would be taken against power plants found to have defrauded the state.
The bureau is also planning action over alleged irregularities in the mines and minerals sector and the Auqaf Department. A crackdown on illegal occupation of state-owned land was also announced.
The investigation aims to examine alleged wrongdoing and establish accountability where evidence supports further action.
The development comes amid broader scrutiny of public spending and governance in Pakistan’s energy sector.
