Pakistan is facing a nationwide shortage of seasonal flu vaccines, with several major brands currently unavailable in pharmacies.
According to drug control officials, vaccines from leading multinational companies are unlikely to arrive in significant quantities before late November or December. Limited stocks of Chinese-manufactured vaccines have also reportedly run out.
The shortage has raised concerns after authorities seized a large stock of suspected counterfeit flu vaccines in Lahore and arrested two people.
Officials have advised the public to purchase vaccines only from licensed pharmacies and carefully check batch numbers, manufacturer seals and proper refrigerated storage.
The shortage comes as winter approaches, when seasonal flu infections generally increase.
Authorities are continuing investigations into the suspected fake vaccines while efforts to restore genuine supplies remain underway.
