Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue has set October 31, 2026, as the final deadline for filing income tax returns for Tax Year 2026.
The FBR extended the deadline after requests from trade bodies and tax bar associations. Taxpayers who miss the deadline may face late-filing penalties and other tax-related consequences.
The tax authority is also strengthening its use of technology. Under its digital tax reforms, banking and tax information can be cross-checked through automated systems to identify mismatches in declared income and financial transactions.
The FBR is also moving towards technology-driven, faceless audits.
Taxpayers are being urged to submit accurate returns before the deadline and avoid waiting until the last moment.
