A formal closing ceremony marked the completion of a month-long certified training program on Governance and Leadership for academic leaders across Pakistan, held today at Margala Hotel, Islamabad. The initiative aimed at enhancing leadership capacity and governance standards in higher education.
Organized jointly by Edinburgh Napier University (ENU), the British Council, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, and IMSciences Peshawar, the training blended online modules with an intensive in-person final week. Participants explored strategic planning, academic governance, institutional effectiveness, quality assurance, and inclusive leadership.
Certificates of achievement were awarded by Edinburgh Napier University to academic leaders from various universities across Pakistan.
Mr. Riaz Ahmad, Project Coordinator at HEC’s Higher Education Development Program (HEDP), highlighted the critical role of leadership development in institutional transformation. Ms. Maarya Rehman, Deputy Director, British Council Pakistan, emphasized the value of international collaboration in strengthening educational systems.
Dr. Fawad Khaleel and Professor Nathalia Tjandra from ENU praised the program’s success and its role in fostering global academic networks and effective leadership. Special recognition was given to Dr. Shafiullah Jan of IMSciences for spearheading the local implementation.
The event concluded with all partners reaffirming their commitment to enhancing governance, leadership, and quality in Pakistan’s higher education sector.
