“Our Guests First”, King Salman Orders Care for Ir-anian Hajj Pilgrims

King Salman Orders Immediate Support for Stranded Ir-anian Hajj Pilgrims

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman has directed authorities to provide all necessary help to Ir-anian Hajj pilgrims stranded in the Kingdom until it’s safe for them to return home.

The king’s order came after Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman presented a plan to aid the stranded pilgrims. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has been entrusted with making sure they get all the support they need during their stay.

This move comes amid growing tensions in the region. Ir-an and Is-r@el traded attacks early on Saturday after Is-r@el launched its largest ever air assault against Ir-an.

As Ir-an responded by firing a barrage of missiles, air-raid sirens went off in Tel- Aviv and Je-rusalem Is-r@el’s two main cities prompting people to rush to nearby shelters. The Is-r@eli military said its air defenses successfully intercepted many of the incoming attacks.

The escalation has forced many countries to temporarily close their airspace, making it difficult for Iranians stranded abroad including Hajj pilgrims to find a way back home. Flights have been suspended or rerouted due to safety concerns, adding to the challenge of their return. Nonetheless, Saudi Arabia has assured stranded pilgrims that their well being and care remain a top priority during these difficult circumstances.

The Is-r@eli Broadcasting Authority and the Associated Press reported two deaths and nearly 40 injuries from the strikes.

The Is-r@eli army stated, “In the last hour, Ir-an fired dozens of missiles at    Is-r@el, some of which were shot down.”

Meanwhile, in Ir-an’s capital Tehran, several explosions were heard. The Fars news agency said two projectiles struck Mehrabad airport, near key Ir-anian leadership sites. Ir-anian media also reported a fire at the airport, which houses both fighter jets and transport aircraft.

And that, in the end, is what gives this story its edge. This is not really the Treasury secretary versus environmental activists, or the Treasury secretary versus diplomatic fashion. It is the Treasury secretary versus a body of scientific evidence that has only grown stronger. He can try to narrow the mandate. He can cut the funding. He can change the language. What he cannot do is make the underlying climate risk disappear.
