Daily Patient Count at NICVD Surpasses 2,000 Amid Rising Heart Disease Cases ‎

Karachi: The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Karachi is witnessing a surge in heart disease cases, with the daily number of patients exceeding 2,000. Health experts attribute this alarming increase to sedentary lifestyles, lack of physical activity, and widespread smoking.

‎As heart-related conditions continue to rise in Karachi, over 2,000 people are now reporting daily to NICVD’s emergency and outpatient departments. Medical professionals stress that a lifestyle change is urgently needed, as the consumption of oily and fatty foods has become a major contributor to heart disease. Additionally, staying up late at night is believed to affect blood pressure levels.

‎According to NICVD Executive Director Professor Tahir Saghir, the growing prevalence of smoking and the lack of walking or exercise are key factors behind the increasing number of heart patients. Annual statistics reveal that nearly 2.4 million patients receive treatment at NICVD and its satellite centers across Sindh.

‎The NICVD provides free medical services including angiography, angioplasty, and various diagnostic tests. Experts also warn that poor dietary habits and irregular sleeping patterns are now causing even young individuals to suffer from heart conditions.
