Karachi Drenched in Chaos: Roads Crumble, Streets Flooded, Citizens Fume Over City Negligence

Karachi – June 29, 2025:

Karachi is once again grappling with the aftermath of monsoon rains, as large swathes of the city remain submerged, roads damaged, and daily life thrown into disarray.

What started as welcome showers quickly turned into a nightmare for residents, exposing the city’s fragile infrastructure and inadequate drainage system. From Model Colony to Korangi, and from Orangi Town to Baldia, residents waded through knee-deep water, with many neighborhoods resembling stagnant ponds rather than city streets.

In Model Colony, frustration boiled over as massive potholes filled with rainwater trapped several vehicles. A video of a police mobile getting stuck in a deep crater made rounds on social media, fueling public outrage.

“Mayor Sahib, have some mercy on us. The situation is unbearable here,” pleaded a local resident, standing beside flooded roads and waterlogged lanes.

The list of affected areas continues to grow — Korangi 2½, Industrial Area, Bagh Korangi, Qayyumabad, KPT Bridge, Orangi Town, and Baldia are among the worst hit. Residents say the absence of city authorities has only worsened the ordeal.

“There’s no sign of drainage teams, no repair work — we’re completely on our own,” said another resident of Korangi.

With roads cracking under the pressure of stagnant water and sewage mixing with floodwaters, health and safety concerns are mounting.

Citizens are now demanding immediate intervention from the city administration, calling for urgent road repairs and drainage operations to prevent the situation from spiraling further out of control.
