Mehwish Hayat and Yo Yo Honey Singh May Face UK Ban Over ‘Jatt Mehkma’ Video

Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat and Indian rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh could be barred from entering the United Kingdom following controversy surrounding their music video Jatt Mehkma, British media reported.
UK MP Manuela Perteghella has formally urged the Home Office to investigate the video for what she described as “disturbing glorification of violence,” according to Deadline.

The music video, filmed in Eastnor Castle and Birmingham city centre, features Mehwish Hayat and ends with a scene showing four minors using replica guns to open fire alongside her character. The track, which was released in November, has amassed nearly 40 million views on YouTube.

A UK-based production company reportedly facilitated the filming. Sources suggest the Home Office is now considering exclusion orders against both artists, citing concerns about the use of imitation firearms and the exposure of minors to violent imagery.

Mehwish Hayat, known internationally for her appearance in Ms. Marvel and locally for films like Load Wedding and Actor in Law, has denied any legal action is underway.
“These claims are entirely speculative and misleading,” she said, calling on media outlets to verify facts before sharing such news.

Yo Yo Honey Singh, a leading name in India’s music scene, has yet to make a public statement.

The UK Home Office and West Midlands Police have not commented. Meanwhile, reports suggest that BBC Asian Network has dropped the song from its future playlists.
