The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has announced an important development regarding preparations for its 12th edition, with the deadline for player retentions confirmed as franchises begin planning their squads for the upcoming season.
According to the announced schedule, all eight franchises will have to finalize their retained players by January 13, 2027. The player auction is scheduled to take place on January 23, 2027, giving teams an opportunity to strengthen their squads before the tournament begins.
Representatives of the eight franchises met with PSL officials to discuss player retention rules, direct signings, squad structures and auction regulations. The meeting focused on establishing a framework that would allow teams to build competitive squads while maintaining a fair balance between the franchises.
Under the proposed rules, each franchise will be allowed to retain a maximum of seven players, including a player signed through the direct-signing process
