Polio Virus Detected in Environmental Sample from Diamer

Polio virus has been confirmed in an environmental sample collected from Diamer.

‎According to the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), the sample was tested at the National Institute of Health (NIH) laboratory in Islamabad.

‎The NEOC stated that the sample tested positive for a type of poliovirus.

‎The NEOC further informed that a special anti-polio campaign was conducted in Diamer and surrounding districts from July 14 to 18.

During the campaign, a total of 159,525 children were administered polio drops.
