Karachi: Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori and Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui addressed a joint press conference in Karachi, followed by a meeting with the central leadership of MQM Pakistan.
During the press briefing, Governor Tessori announced that a special celebration will take place at Five Star Chowrangi on the nights of August 13 and 14, which will include a flag hoisting ceremony and a spectacular fireworks show.
“I will personally hoist the national flag at Five Star Chowrangi. The fireworks will be unlike anything Karachi has witnessed before,” said Governor Tessori.
He added that this celebration is also a symbolic response to extremist elements, particularly referencing those defeated in the Operation Bayān-ul-Marsūs.
The press conference was followed by a high-level meeting attended by MQM-P leaders including Dr. Farooq Sattar, Anees Qaimkhani, elected members of the National and Provincial Assemblies, and heads of organizational departments.
The meeting finalized a plan to launch a nation-wide campaign titled “Ma’raka-e-Haq, Jashn-e-Azadi”, which will run from August 1 to 14, featuring community engagement, patriotic rallies, and public events aimed at promoting national unity and spirit.
Governor Tessori also announced that Governor House will be opened to the public for one day as part of the Independence Day celebrations, inviting citizens to directly participate in the festivities.
Federal Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui stated that MQM-P’s leadership will also visit other cities across Sindh to expand the spirit of celebration beyond Karachi.
The leadership emphasized that the campaign will combine cultural, civic, and patriotic themes to highlight the importance of unity, freedom, and the sacrifices made for Pakistan’s independence.
