Alibaba has entered the global wearable-tech race by launching its artificial intelligence powered Quark AI glasses in China, directly challenging Meta with a more affordable price tag.
The Quark glasses come in two models the S1 priced at around 3,700 yuan ($536) and the G1 starting at 1,899 yuan with the main difference being their display systems, which include a frame mounted camera and screen enabled lenses.
Powered by Alibaba’s newly released Qwen AI model, the glasses offer features such as AI-generated meeting notes, real-time translation, virtual assistant queries, and photo capture through the built-in lens camera.
The launch comes as global tech giants race to position smart glasses as the next big consumer device after smartphones. Meta recently introduced its $799 Ray-Ban Display glasses, while companies like Xreal and Xiaomi also compete in the expanding market.
Omdia forecasts that AI glasses sales will surpass 10 million units by 2026. Alibaba’s Quark AI glasses are now available on major Chinese e-commerce platforms including Douyin, Tmall, and JD.com.
