Students from the Civil and Architecture Department of Aligarh Institute of Technology (AIT) visited the Water Purification Plant of Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation as part of an industrial tour aimed at gaining practical education beyond the classroom.
Like every year, the visit was organized under the supervision of Head of Civil and Architecture Department, Engineer Madiha Younus. The purpose of the tour was to familiarize students with modern water purification methods, technical processes, and infrastructure.
The students observed various sections of the plant, including stages such as water filtration, chlorination, and storage.
In addition to a lecture on the scientific and engineering principles of water purification, practical demonstrations were also given to show how millions of people in a large city like Karachi are provided with clean water. This educational activity not only enhanced the students’ technical understanding but also helped polish their professional skills.
On the occasion, AIT Principal Shahid Jamil stated, “Such industrial visits are the best way to prepare our students to face real-world challenges.”
AIT Convener Syed Muhammad Mohsin Kazim expressed his views by saying, “Through such initiatives, AIT is committed to equipping students with practical experience, making them confident and capable engineers.”
This visit proved to be not just an academic experience but also an effective way for students to connect with the professional world.
