Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has strongly criticised the individuals responsible for secretly filming veteran actor Dharmendra inside Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, calling the act a complete absence of ethics and humanity.
A video circulating online showed the 89-year-old superstar lying unconscious on a hospital bed, connected to medical machines, while his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol stood beside him. A woman in the room could be heard crying and pleading with Dharmendra in Punjabi, asking him not to “go away”. Several other people were present in the room, though most of them did not appear to be medical staff.
Amitabh reacted sharply on X, writing: “No ethics, koi bhee achaar-neeti nahin.”
Reports from Indian outlets claim that the recording may have been captured by a hospital staff member, though the facility has not issued a statement. No arrests or disciplinary actions have been announced so far.
Dharmendra was admitted on November 10 after experiencing breathing difficulties at home. As news of his condition spread, celebrities including Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan visited him. Rumours circulating on social media falsely claimed that the actor had been placed on a ventilator or had passed away.
Sunny Deol’s team later clarified that the veteran actor was stable and improving under monitoring. His daughter Esha Deol also slammed the spread of misinformation, saying, “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. Please give our family privacy.”
Dharmendra, one of Indian cinema’s most beloved stars known as Bollywood’s “He-Man” in the 80s, has enjoyed a career spanning more than six decades. He was last seen in the 2024 film Teri Baaton Main Aisa Uljha Jiya.
The actor was discharged a day later and is now recovering at home.
