Karachi: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized a massive consignment of narcotics worth USD 154.15 million during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan and arrested two members of an international drug trafficking organization (DTO).
According to an ANF spokesperson, the operation marks another significant success in the ongoing crackdown on drug smuggling. Acting on confirmed intelligence, ANF intercepted an attempt by a transnational drug network to transport a large quantity of narcotics through an LPG container truck.
The spokesperson revealed that ANF’s intelligence wing had been monitoring the DTO in Panjgur, allegedly led by a notorious trafficker, Ali Jan. The network was involved in smuggling drugs arriving from Afghanistan and transporting them from Panjgur to Turbat, Gwadar, and Pasni, before dispatching them via speedboats and small vessels to Yemen, Tanzania, and GCC countries.
ANF received information that the group planned to conceal narcotics inside an LPG container and shift it from Panjgur through Turbat to the coastal areas of Gwadar and Pasni for onward shipment abroad. Acting swiftly, ANF intercepted the suspicious vehicle on the M-8 Gwadar CPEC route and took it into custody.
During a complete search of the container, the force recovered 553.5 kilograms of crystal meth (methamphetamine) and 40 kilograms of heroin. Two operatives of the DTO were also arrested at the scene.
The spokesperson added that efforts have been intensified to apprehend the remaining operatives, including suppliers, facilitators, and the intended foreign recipients. A case has been registered, and raids are underway to dismantle the entire network. ANF reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking.
