Former Pakistani actress Areej Fatima has strongly responded to those criticizing her choice to wear the hijab, saying that her decision is deeply personal and not open for public judgment.
The actress, who gained fame through several popular TV dramas, left the entertainment industry after her marriage and moved to the United States, where she now lives a peaceful life with her husband, Dr. Uzair, and their two sons.
A few months ago, Areej shared that she had started wearing the hijab regularly and also spoke openly about her battle with cancer and recovery journey. Her followers praised her strength, faith, and devotion to Islam.
However, in a recent statement, Areej revealed that since adopting the hijab, she has faced unwanted criticism and unsolicited advice from people about how she should behave or dress.
“When I didn’t wear a scarf, life was much easier. Now everyone feels the need to tell me what’s right or wrong with my hijab,” she said, emphasizing that her spiritual path is her own journey and not something others should interfere with.
Many women on social media have since come forward in support of Areej, sharing similar experiences of being judged after choosing to wear the hijab and praising her for speaking out confidently against societal pressure.
