RAWALPINDI – Pakistan captain and star batter Babar Azam joined India’s Virat Kohli in an unwanted milestone as his century drought continued during the ODI clash against Sri Lanka on Tuesday at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Babar arrived at the crease when Pakistan were under early pressure at 14 for 1 and built a 54-run stand with Fakhar Zaman to steady the innings. However, his promising start was cut short when Wanindu Hasaranga bowled him for 29 after facing 51 deliveries and striking three boundaries.
This innings marked Babar’s 83rd international appearance without scoring a century — a rare dry spell for a player of his caliber. His last hundred came against Nepal during the 2023 Asia Cup.
Cricket fans expressed mixed reactions on social media — some voiced concern over his recent form, while others remained confident that their captain would bounce back stronger in upcoming matches.
