Chinese scientists have developed a new type of adhesive that can be described as “bone glue.” Its official name is Bone-02.
This glue works effectively even in environments with blood and moisture, where ordinary adhesives often fail.
Experts claim that with this glue, broken bone fragments can be joined within 2–3 minutes.
Its bonding strength is reported to be over 400 pounds, with a shear strength of about 0.5 megapascals and compressive strength of around 10 megapascals.
The glue is biodegradable, meaning once the bone has healed, it gradually dissolves inside the body and does not need to be removed later.
The technology has already been tested on more than 150 patients, with early results showing promising outcomes.
Interestingly, the inspiration for this innovation came from oysters, which can cling strongly to surfaces even in harsh, wet environments.
