A senior doctor at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) has taken a remarkable step in the service of humanity by donating her deceased son’s kidneys, giving two patients a new lease on life.

‎The kidneys of a young donor were successfully transplanted at SIUT, offering hope and a second chance to two individuals who had been on long-term dialysis and awaiting a donor.

‎Dr. Mehr Afroz, a consultant nephrologist at SIUT, lost her 23-year-old son, Sultan Zafar  a dental surgery student  following a tragic accident. After being treated in the ICU for a week, doctors declared him brain-dead.

‎In the midst of unimaginable grief, Dr. Mehr made the courageous decision to donate both of her son’s kidneys. The life-saving organs were successfully transplanted into two patients who had been waiting for a suitable match.

‎Dr. Mehr Afroz’s brave and compassionate act has been widely praised by both the medical community and the general public.

‎SIUT Director Professor Adib Rizvi called her decision a noble act of humanity, stating that by saving two lives, Dr. Mehr had set an example for society to follow. He also urged the public to come forward in supporting organ donation to help save more lives.
