The 51-year-old recently revealed that he lost nearly 20 kilograms through a highly debated dietary method known as OMAD—One Meal a Day. Johar, known for his flamboyant style and honest public persona, shared his fitness journey on social media, sparking both admiration and concern among followers. The filmmaker admitted to struggling with weight-related issues since childhood and said his decision to adopt OMAD stemmed from a personal commitment to better health. OMAD, as the name suggests, involves consuming all daily calories in a single meal while fasting for the remaining 23 hours. While the method has gained popularity among some wellness circles for its potential to accelerate fat loss and improve metabolic health, experts remain divided on its long-term effects. Many nutritionists caution that such an extreme dietary regimen may not be suitable for everyone. “OMAD can lead to rapid weight loss, but it can also result in nutritional deficiencies, disordered eating patterns, and strain on the digestive system if not monitored properly,” said a Mumbai-based dietitian who spoke on condition of anonymity. Johar, however, credited the discipline of the routine and a supportive health team for helping him stay consistent. “It wasn’t easy. There were moments of weakness, but I stayed committed. I feel lighter, more energetic, and confident,” he said during an Instagram Q&A with fans. The filmmaker emphasized that his choice was personal and tailored to his needs, cautioning others to consult health professionals before attempting similar transformations. As celebrity fitness trends continue to influence public behavior, experts urge caution and personalized approaches to wellness. While Johar’s success story has inspired many, it also revives the ongoing debate over the safety and sustainability of such dietary plans.
