Karachi: A disturbing revelation has shaken Karachi’s food industry — police have uncovered a racket involved in supplying meat from dead chickens to several fast-food joints, biryani centres, and local hotels across the city.
Acting on a tip-off, the Gulberg Police raided a warehouse near the railway crossing in Moosa Colony. During the operation, they seized 80 kilograms of meat suspected to be from dead chickens and arrested two suspects identified as Anwar alias Ali Bengali and Kamal.
Police registered a case against the suspects on behalf of the state and immediately alerted the Sindh Food Authority, whose officials arrived at the scene for inspection. A sample of the seized meat was sealed and sent to the laboratory for testing.
According to police sources, the culprits were allegedly distributing this unhygienic meat to multiple eateries across Karachi, including popular fast-food and biryani outlets. Investigations are now underway to determine how long this illicit trade had been running and the full extent of its supply network.
Authorities have vowed to take strict action against those involved in endangering public health for profit.
