A feature-length documentary on legendary Pakistani comedian Omar Sharif is currently in production, his daughter Hina Omar confirmed in a recent interview. The film is expected to be released by the end of 2025 and will highlight the life, work, and legacy of the late icon.
The project, tentatively titled “My Father: The Story of Omar Sharif,” is being produced under the supervision of Sharif’s family. According to Hina Omar, it is not just a tribute to a comedian, but a personal homage from a daughter to her father.
The documentary will include rare archival footage, stage performances, personal interviews, and insights from fellow artists and family members. It also plans to spotlight Omar Sharif’s humanitarian efforts, including the Omar Sharif Welfare Hospital.
Talks are underway with international streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime, although no platform has been officially confirmed.
Omar Sharif, known for stage hits like “Bakra Qiston Pe” and his show “The Shareef Show”, was a pioneer in Pakistani comedy and recipient of numerous awards including the Pride of Performance.
