The Punjab Directorate of Drug Control Authority has imposed an immediate ban on the sale and use of specific batches of eight types of medicines manufactured by different companies across the province.
According to an alert issued by the Drug Control Authority, these medicines do not meet the prescribed quality standards. During testing, some medicines failed potency tests, while others were found to be substandard, adulterated, or being sold in the market with improper labeling in violation of rules and regulations.
The authority has also issued orders to recall these medicines from the market.
In the alert, the authority has provided complete details of the affected batches so that pharmacies and medical stores can be informed in a timely manner.
The medicines whose sale has been banned include Omnivise eye drops 2 percent 5 ml, Cetfen tablets 10 mg, Senex tablets 10 mg, Isobag injection 10 ml, New Cobal injection, Mega Dep tablets 5 mg, Comedex injection 1 ml, and Scard 75 enteric coated tablets.
The Drug Control Authority has directed all medical stores, pharmacies, and distributors to immediately stop the sale of these medicines and return the existing stock to the relevant authorities.
The authority has also appealed to the public to avoid using these medicines, as substandard medicines can be dangerous to health. Any suspected medicine should be reported to the nearest drug inspector or the concerned authority.
