The election tribunal has rejected Dr. Yasmin Rashid’s petition challenging former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s victory in NA-130. The tribunal, headed by Rana Zahid Mehmood, announced the decision after reviewing her appeal.
Dr. Yasmin Rashid had claimed in her petition that she was the winning candidate according to Form 45, but Form 47 declared Nawaz Sharif as the winner and the notification was issued accordingly. She requested the court to annul the official notification.
The tribunal raised objections, stating that Dr. Yasmin Rashid is currently in jail and cannot file the petition through her attorney. It also noted that the petition was filed after the allowed deadline, making it inadmissible.
Dr. Yasmin Rashid’s lawyer, Rana Mudassar, said they plan to challenge the tribunal’s decision, arguing that the rejection was based on technical grounds and did not address the merits of the case.
