ISLAMABAD, Oct 9 (APP): In a major step to modernize Pakistan’s examination system, the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) on Wednesday discussed introducing automation, Optical Mark Recognition (OMR), and e-marking technologies to ensure transparency and efficiency in assessments.
The meeting, held at the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) headquarters, was attended by FBISE Chairman Dr. Ikram Ali Malik, BIEK Chairman Faqir Muhammad Lakho, and Sindh Board of Technical Education Chairman Musharraf Ali Rajput.
It was agreed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be signed among the three boards, under which the Federal Board will provide technical support, training, and guidance to Karachi and Sindh Technical Boards for implementing the new systems.
In the first phase, two officers from each provincial board will receive specialized training at FBISE Islamabad before replicating the automation and e-marking systems in their respective boards.
Chairman Lakho noted that the Karachi Board had already tested e-marking in the Intermediate Part-I Mathematics exam 2025, yielding positive results.
