Federal Government Making Decisions Out of Ego, Says Bilawal Bhutto

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has criticized the federal government, saying that while the agricultural sector has been severely hit by the floods, the government seems more focused on ego-driven politics than on helping the victims through the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Bilawal reminded that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) used to praise BISP during election campaigns but has now taken a complete U-turn.

He argued that the federal government should have appealed to the international community for timely aid, which could have saved and supported many more flood-affected families. “It is the responsibility of the federal government, not Punjab, to secure international assistance,” he stressed.

Bilawal also confirmed that PML-N has not yet shared any draft of a constitutional amendment with the PPP. He said if they are serious about such amendments, they must engage in dialogue, as decisions of this nature should be made through consultation.
