Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that patients suffering from cold, flu, and fever should not visit PIMS Hospital.
Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, the Federal Health Minister said that the government wants to reduce the burden on PIMS Hospital, therefore patients with cold, flu, and fever should not come to the hospital.
The minister said that PIMS Hospital was established in 1984. At that time, Islamabad had a population of around 700,000, whereas today it is approaching 5 million. Previously, the hospital received around 200 patients, but now between 7,000 and 9,000 patients visit daily, and with their attendants, the number of people present reaches 35,000 to 40,000.
He stated that the country does not have an ideal healthcare situation, the primary healthcare system is still not strong, and this is due to shortcomings on our part.
The minister further said that the FeraPlus machine at PIMS Hospital has become operational, and heart patients will now receive treatment free of charge. He added that there had previously been some confusion regarding this facility, which has now been reduced.
