The Federal Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment has sought a complete three-year record of harassment complaints lodged by passengers against a major ride-hailing service.
According to details, Federal Ombudsperson Fauzia Waqar has issued strict directives to the company, ordering it to submit a comprehensive report within seven days. The ombudsperson has questioned whether the company has an inquiry committee in place and has asked for full documentation of its internal mechanism for handling harassment complaints.
The safety framework of the ride-hailing service is also being examined following allegations that a driver engaged in inappropriate conversation with a female passenger and diverted the vehicle in the wrong direction. The company has additionally been instructed to provide a compliance report on its anti-harassment procedures.
A formal complaint has already been filed by the female passenger against the driver, prompting the inquiry.
