Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has once again lauded the role of Pakistani media, calling it a source of national pride and a vital pillar in the country’s narrative.
Speaking to senior journalists at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the recently decorated Field Marshal said, “The media is our pride. You have shown the world that we stand for truth.” He emphasized that the press has remained a steadfast ally in presenting Pakistan’s perspective globally.
The occasion marked the formal conferment of the “Baton of Field Marshal” to Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif jointly presented the honor during a high-profile ceremony attended by foreign diplomats, senior military officers, and government officials.
President Zardari, while addressing the gathering, stated, “This is a moment of pride for the entire nation. Granting the title of Field Marshal to General Asim Munir is a recognition of his leadership from the front lines.”
He further added that Pakistan’s desire for peace must never be mistaken for weakness. “Today’s ceremony is a tribute to our brave sons who have protected the homeland with courage and dignity.”
The ceremony underscored the state’s appreciation for both the armed forces and the media in shaping a resilient and responsible national discourse.
