First Dengue Death Reported in Sindh This Year

The first death from dengue has been reported in Sindh this year, as the affected girl was admitted to the hospital on March 11.

‎According to the spokesperson of the Sindh Health Department, the deceased 20 year old girl belonged to PIB Colony in Karachi and passed away during treatment on March 16.

‎A total of 198 dengue cases have been reported across Sindh this year. The highest number of cases, 163, were reported in Karachi Division, while 24 cases were reported from Hyderabad Division, 8 from Mirpurkhas Division, and 3 from Sukkur.

‎According to the spokesperson for the Provincial Health Minister, 20,123 malaria cases have been reported across Sindh from January to April 7 this year.

‎In Karachi, 184 malaria cases have been reported, including 88 from District South, 29 each from District West and Malir, 19 from Korangi, 10 from East, 4 from Kemari, and 5 from Central District.

‎Hyderabad Division reported 7,765 cases, Sukkur Division 2,205, Larkana Division 5,468, Mirpurkhas Division 1,957, and Shaheed Benazirabad 2,544 cases.
