Pakistan to push for full Gaza ceasefire implementation and Palestinian statehood

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will visit Istanbul on Monday to attend the Coordination Meeting of Arab-Islamic Foreign Ministers, focusing on the implementation of the Gaza Peace Agreement and strengthening the regional ceasefire, the Foreign Office announced Sunday.

Dar’s one-day visit comes at the invitation of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The high-level huddle aims to discuss progress on the Gaza Peace Agreement signed in Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh and to unite Arab-Islamic nations around efforts to end the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan will urge for the complete enforcement of the ceasefire, Israel’s withdrawal from occupied Palestinian territories, and unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza. It will also stress the importance of rebuilding Gaza and achieving an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, based on pre-1967 borders in accordance with UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

“Pakistan remains firmly committed to restoring peace, justice, and dignity for the Palestinian people and ensuring their right to self determination,” the statement added.

Pakistan, along with seven other Arab-Islamic nations, has been actively involved in diplomatic efforts that led to the landmark Israel-Hamas ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal signed on October 10. The US-brokered agreement  supported by Qatar, Egypt, and Turkiye seeks to halt hostilities, enable humanitarian relief, and mark the first phase toward ending two years of devastating conflict that claimed over 67,000 Palestinian lives.

On October 13, mediators Egypt, Qatar, and Turkiye signed a formal document with US President Donald Trump at an international summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, solidifying the Gaza ceasefire deal.
