Vitamin D is extremely important for human health, especially for bone strength, the immune system and other bodily functions.

‎However, like everything beneficial, its excessive or unbalanced use can also be harmful.

‎According to experts, if vitamin D is taken in high amounts without testing or a doctor’s advice, it can accumulate in the body and cause various complications because it is a fat soluble vitamin and is not easily excreted.

‎There are certain symptoms in which taking vitamin D becomes dangerous, these indicate excessive intake such as nausea, vomiting or loss of appetite, unusual thirst and frequent urination, and dizziness.

‎In addition, weakness or severe fatigue, headache or mental confusion, constipation, irregular heartbeat, pain in bones or muscles, and increased calcium in the blood hypercalcemia, which can damage the kidneys.

‎Can taking high doses be dangerous?

‎Yes, especially repeated intake of high doses such as 50,000 IU can be risky. Since vitamin D is stored in the body, its excess can gradually cause toxic effects.

‎What should be done in such a situation?

‎If the above symptoms appear in your body, immediately stop taking vitamin D and consult a qualified doctor, get blood tests done, especially 25 OH vitamin D and calcium levels.

‎Precautionary measures:

‎Remember vitamin D should always be taken based on medical advice and testing, self medication or excessive intake can be harmful to health.

‎Although vitamin D is essential for health, its careless use can cause harm instead of benefit. Moderation and medical guidance are key to safe health.
