An initiative of the World Health Organization and the Government of Pakistan, preparations for free cancer medicines for children have been completed in four major hospitals of Pakistan.
More than 8,000 Pakistani children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and by the end of 2026 the supply of free and quality cancer medicines will begin.
Pakistan has joined the global platform and become the second country in the region, with a target set to double the survival rate of children by 2030.
UNICEF will procure the medicines and ensure their delivery to Pakistan, while globally 400,000 children are diagnosed with cancer every year.
