ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Friday firmly stated that Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi must concentrate on his provincial responsibilities, stressing that the federal government will not be pressured or “blackmailed” by threats of sit ins.
Speaking on Dunya News’ programme Tonight With Samar Abbas, Tarar said that any meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan will only be held strictly under the jail manual. He warned that if any law is violated, “no meeting will be allowed at all.”
Tarar claimed that Imran Khan is already receiving “maximum facilities” in Adiala Jail, adding that CM Afridi is “acting like a Buzdar plus plus.” He criticised PTI workers for creating disturbances outside the jail, saying such behaviour violates the law and disrupts order, which is why authorities restrict visits.
The minister further alleged that internal divisions within PTI have intensified and even accused a female PTI leader of leaking information to Indian and Afghan media outlets.
Reiterating that the KP Chief Minister has “no legal right” to meet the jailed PTI founder, Tarar urged Afridi to prioritise improving governance and law and order in his own province instead of engaging in political confrontation.
