Peshawar: A groom’s celebration turned into trouble when police arrested him along with 11 others for aerial firing during a wedding ceremony in Tehkal, officials said on Sunday.
According to Peshawar Police, heavy aerial firing took place during a wedding event in Forest Bazaar, Tehkal, and videos of the gunfire were later widely circulated on social media. Senior police officers took notice of the viral footage and ordered immediate action.
A team led by DSP Town Circle Arbab Naeem Haider traced the individuals involved and arrested all the suspects, including the groom, identified as Jibran.
Police recovered a light machine gun (LMG), an M4 rifle, two Kalashnikovs, and a pistol from the possession of the arrested men. A case has been registered at Tehkal Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
