KARACHI: Local management of Gulberg Town has built an ambitious proposal to harness and recycle rain water before the monsoons. The project had an initial consultative session of Town Chairman Nusratullah and the experts at Panjwani-Hisaar Water Institute (PHWI) of NED University of Engineering and Technology.
The role of PHWI was played by Dr. Areeba Syed and Engineer Haris Bhatti and participants of Gulberg Town were Special Initiatives Advisor Umair Ahmed and Rainwater Harvesting Project Advisor Saeed Musa.
A Pakistani water expert Dr. Imran Ahmed, a Founding Director of PHWI also shared insights. During the adventures in water recycling and greywater, as well as coping with the changing climate internationally, Dr.Imran reiterated that the recycling activities and climate adaptation activities were not only essential in managing the environment but also in making urban areas self-reliant.
