The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a nationwide heatwave alert, warning of severe hot and dry conditions across the country. Citizens are strongly advised to take precautions as temperatures are expected to soar in the coming days.

According to the advisory, daytime temperatures could climb to a scorching 45–50°C, especially between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., the hottest hours of the day. No significant rainfall is expected to provide relief.

Islamabad, along with much of Punjab including Lahore, will remain under intense heat. Lahore could hit highs of 46°C, with dry and sunny conditions continuing. Dusty winds are likely to blow across Punjab’s plains during the afternoon, worsening the heat.

In Sindh and Balochistan, most areas  especially the plains  will face dangerously high temperatures. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will also experience intense heat, though light rain is forecast in upper regions like Chitral, Dir, and Swat. Despite these isolated showers, overall conditions will stay dry and hot.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to face similar weather patterns, with no major relief in sight.

Authorities are urging the public  particularly children, the elderly, and women to stay indoors during peak hours, keep hydrated, and wear light, breathable clothing to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Medical professionals warn against unnecessary travel and recommend increasing fluid intake, seeking shade, and being alert to symptoms of heat exhaustion.
