KARACHI/RAWALPINDI – Despite a ban on aerial firing, the deadly practice claimed four lives and left more than 80 people injured during Independence Day celebrations on Thursday, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

In Karachi, three people, including a young girl, were killed in separate incidents. Eight-year-old Marha lost her life in Block 8, Azizabad; 35-year-old Stephen, son of John, died in Korangi’s 3.5 No Park; and 70-year-old Jumma, son of Salman, was killed in Agra Taj.

According to hospital records, 51 men, 24 women, six boys, and one girl were among the injured. Abbasi Shaheed Hospital received the highest number of patients with 40 victims, while Civil Hospital and Jinnah Hospital each treated 22 injured individuals. Liaquatabad reported the largest cluster of cases, with 10 people wounded, followed by incidents in Orangi Town, Lyari, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Nazimabad, and other areas.

In Rawalpindi, a two-year-old girl named Zamal died after being struck by a stray bullet during celebrations at Liaquat Bagh. The child, sitting in her mother’s lap at a musical concert, was hit in the neck and succumbed to her injuries in hospital.
