Virus infections have taken an alarming turn across Pakistan, including Lahore, as a large number of citizens suffering from influenza and other infectious diseases are visiting hospitals.
According to the Health Department, more than 50,000 patients have been reported at government hospitals in Punjab over the past 12 days, while an unusual rush of patients has also been observed at private clinics. Common symptoms among affected individuals include dry cough, severe flu, headache, and body aches.
Medical experts say that most patients coming to hospitals are reporting with symptoms of Influenza A (H3N2).
Experts have warned that influenza cases are expected to increase further from December to February, and due to smog, the risk of symptoms persisting for a longer period has also increased.
