A senior Iranian Sunni cleric, Mamousta Jalal Moradi, has said that national unity is both a religious obligation and a strategic necessity, echoing the recent remarks of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Speaking to Taqrib News Agency, he said unity acts as a strong shield that protects Iran’s diverse ethnic and religious communities from external conspiracies.
Moradi highlighted the historic role of clerics in the “jihad of clarification,” emphasizing that supporting the current government helps advance the core objectives of the Islamic Revolution. He said the Leader’s recent statements on unity must be understood within a broader and wise national strategy.
According to Moradi, Ayatollah Khamenei’s vision of unity rests on three pillars: a shared Islamic-Iranian identity that embraces all groups; equal rights that build trust between citizens and the state; and vigilance against hostile plots aimed at creating division. He warned that enemy psychological warfare is now “at its most complex stage.”
The cleric also outlined key responsibilities for religious scholars, including explaining realities with modern communication tools, improving society’s media literacy, and strengthening hope and resistance among the people. He said that just as Iranians defeated the Zionist enemy in the 12-day war, they can also prevail against psychological warfare today.
