Islamabad Police Officer Dies by Suicide

ISLAMABAD – A senior officer of the Islamabad Police, Superintendent of Police (SP) Adeel Akbar, reportedly took his own life on Thursday.

According to police sources, SP Adeel Akbar allegedly took a firearm from his gunman and shot himself. He was rushed to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

SP Adeel Akbar was serving as the SP of the Industrial Area Division in Islamabad Police. Authorities have launched an inquiry into the incident to ascertain the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
