As part of Operation Rising Lion, Isr@eli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the strikes were carried out in response to what he described as a growing threat from Iran, calling it a danger to “Isr@el’s very survival.”
Following the attacks, Isr@el declared a state of emergency and warned of possible retaliatory strikes from Iran “in the immediate future.”
Iranian state media reported that several residential areas in Tehran were hit, and children were among those killed. However, these claims have not yet been independently verified.
In a major development, Iranian outlets reported that Major General Hossein Salami, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was killed in one of the strikes — a claim that, if confirmed, could significantly escalate tensions.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarified that the United States had no involvement or role in the operation.
