ISLAMABAD, Oct 9 (APP): The Institute of Space Technology (IST) inaugurated World Space Week (WSW) 2025, Pakistan’s largest annual celebration of space science and innovation, under the theme “Living in Space.”
Hosted by the National Center of GIS and Space Applications (NCGSA) with support from HEC and SUPARCO, the event aims to inspire curiosity and promote scientific learning among students nationwide.
Former scientists of Dr. A.Q. Khan Research Laboratories, Prof. Dr. Syed Wilayat Husain and Prof. Dr. Ihtzaz Qamar, inaugurated the event, commending IST’s efforts to advance space education.
NCGSA Chairman Dr. Najam Abbas Naqvi said the event embodies Pakistan’s growing scientific spirit and challenges youth to imagine sustainable life beyond Earth.
This year’s WSW features over 50 competitions, from robotics and coding to space art and satellite design, engaging more than 2,000 students from 50 institutions. Telescope sessions, lab visits, and space exhibitions further enrich the week-long celebration, reaffirming IST’s role as a leader in promoting space science in Pakistan.
