University (JSMU) celebrated the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China with a flag-hoisting ceremony and panel discussion at its campus, reaffirming the enduring “Iron Brotherhood” between the two nations.
The ceremony featured the joint hoisting of Pakistani and Chinese flags, followed by the playing of both national anthems, symbolizing seven decades of mutual respect, solidarity, and strategic partnership.
A key highlight of the event was a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Abdul Wahid Usmani, Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell at JSMU. Among the panelists was Dr. Muhammad Nasiruddin Khan, Director of the Confucius Institute at University of Karachi, who emphasized that Chinese language education plays a vital role in promoting cultural understanding and academic collaboration between the two countries. Speakers underscored the importance of educational exchange in further strengthening Pak-China ties.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Amjad Siraj Memon stated that the friendship between Pakistan and China extends beyond diplomacy. He highlighted the need to adopt China’s work ethics, discipline, and pursuit of excellence within academic institutions, while enhancing research partnerships with Chinese universities.
Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Nighat Shah reaffirmed JSMU’s commitment to expanding academic linkages with Chinese institutions to ensure that future generations continue to build on this longstanding friendship.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Registrar Dr. Azam Khan. Faculty members, students, and distinguished guests attended the event, paying tribute to 75 years of strong Pak-China diplomatic relations.
